Hi, I’m Alexa.

Experience Strategy and Product Design, both dreamer and doer.

I have a big imagination, and it’s the thing makes my ideas and my work authentically me. I also thrive when I’m untangling and solving the tricky stuff—making sense of complexity, solving problems and finding moments for opportunity. A strategist and a designer, I’m just someone who genuinely enjoys being creative every day. I care about helping people and companies tell their stories and build experiences that are innovative and meaningful to the people they reach.

You’ll find me at a project’s inception, defining experience goals and shaping the overarching vision. I then lead strategy and drive design decisions throughout a project’s lifecycle, collaborating closely with my design and development teams to bring the vision to life. I’ve been described as a 'calm, heavy-hitting, thoughtful powerhouse' because I execute with purpose, all while being empathetic and humble in my approach. At the moment, I’m an Associate Director of Products & Experiences at BASIC/DEPT®, where I occasionally curate a vibey playlist or two.

More about me.

I’m an artist by trade, so I enjoy thinking, explaining, and collaborating visually.

I dive deep into each project’s subject matter to make smart, informed decisions.

I develop close partnerships with my teammates to learn from everyone’s ideas and drive a shared vision forward.

I deeply value diverse human experiences and commit to the subject at hand to create informed, impactful solutions.

But most importantly,

Keeping things upbeat and enjoyable is fundamental to how I work, because if you're not having fun throughout the process, what's the point?

  • Not in a linear way, but who really has? I graduated college with a double major in biology and studio art, headed towards medical school but unable to ignore my creative side.

I turned from medicine and went all-in on art, earning a Post-Baccalaureate in Studio Art and Italian Language from Siena Art Institute. As one does in Italy, I fell for architecture and design. But when my Italian pipe dream came to an end, I decided to stay east of the Atlantic, and earned a Master’s in Interior Design from The Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. My thesis explored how people use space, both intentionally and intuitively. I began to see space as more than just physical, exploring its digital side and how people interact with it.

Now that you've envisioned me globe-trotting and earning seemingly unrelated degrees, this is how they all come together. I get how people operate biologically speaking, I problem-solve through an artistic and curious eye, and I genuinely understand how people interact in built and digital environments.

  • It's two-part. My sweet-spot is at the start of a project, where ideas take shape, and innovation happens. I love the uninhibited free flow of concepts in early stages, knowing that the best digital experiences start with inspired, unfiltered thinking. I also love seeing how different people tackle the same challenge, and how varying perspectives and ideas come together to form a cohesive vision forward.

Part two is a build on the first. Once the experience strategy and product roadmap are in place, I really enjoy bringing it all to life. Figuring out how it all comes together—what to build, how to tackle the tricky parts, and guiding a team to make it happen—keeps me learning and excited.

  • While I can’t name the client or share too much about the work yet, I’m leading the vision and execution of a product that’s part of a first-of-its kind campus experience—an epicenter where art, nature and healthcare are being rewritten.

The app we’re building will help visitors immerse themselves in this extraordinary destination, connect with its built and natural environments, and be part of a community that fosters access to creativity, well-being, and a space welcoming to all.

  • Staying active has always been my thing. I’m a racquet sport enthusiast, having started with competitive tennis and since transitioned into padel and pickleball. Boxing also has me hooked, and I’ve recently taken up long walks, which have become the highlight of my day.

I’m also a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, master of none in the world of artistic adventures. With classic oil painting as my foundation, I've explored everything from digital photography to pottery, and even tried my hand at DJing. Recently, I bought a new film camera, and excited to go analog.
